Welcome Our Junior Library Guild Collection!

Books for our youth and youthful.

The Cordova Public Library has been striving to bring a complete collection of materials to all ages of our community. Through a subscription service with a company called Brodart we’ve been able to bring new best sellers for Adults and Young Adults; now we are pleased to join in with the Junior Library Guild.

The Junior Library Guild was founded in 1929 as the Junior Literary Guild, a commercial book club devoted to juvenile literature. Today, JLG is the leading book review and collection development service that helps thousands of K12 school and public libraries acquire the best new children’s and young adult books.

The Guild’s mission still follows editorial board member Eleanor Roosevelt’s mantra to put the right book in the hands of every reader – fostering the love of reading and learning as a path to lifelong success.

JLG books have a gold label on their spine and will be found in each of our youth sections. Here are a few that Youth Services Librarian Anna Hernandez picked out for you to look for:

These are some of the new books that are on the shelves for December:

  • 16 Words: William Carlos Williams & “The Red Wheelbarrow” by Lisa Rogers
  • Home in the Woods by Eliza Wheeler
  • Wintercake by Lynne Rae Perkins
  • Bernard Pepperlin: The Dormouse’s Journey from Wonderland to Manhattan by Cara Hoffman
  • Weird Little Robots by Carolyn Crimi
